McGrady will be inducted with Kansas coach Bill Self, UConn's Rebecca Lobo, Notre Dame women's coach Muffet McGraw, Fort Worth Dunbar coach Robert Hughes, Harlem Globetrotters owner Mannie Jackson, former NCAA executive Tom Jernstedt, Zack Clayton, European star Nikos Galis, former Bulls executive Jerry Krause and former ABA, NBA star George McGinnis.

"I couldn't believe it", McGrady said upon hearing the news, per the Basketball Hall of Fame's Twitter account. After stints with Philadelphia and Denver, McGinnis returned to the Pacers in 1980 after they had joined the National Basketball Association and retired as a Pacer in 1982.

The ceremony will take place on September 8. Named in honor of Hall of Famer John W. Bunn, the first chairman of the Basketball Hall of Fame Committee who served from 1949-64, the award honors coaches, players and contributors whose outstanding accomplishments have impacted the high school, college, professional or worldwide game. His single season scoring average remains an IU record and his single season rebound mark is the fourth best in Hoosier lore. Lobo, along with ten new members are the new inductees to the Basketball Hall of Fame. Since 1998, only two of Self's teams have not won a regular-season conference championship. The Pacers retired McGinnis' No. 30 jersey number.

He played in 842 games as a professional and averaged 20.2, 11.0 rebounds and 3.7 assists.
