During an appearance on 710 ESPN Seattle's "Brock and Salk" show, Carroll explained that the team is looking to add competition behind Russell Wilson, and he was asked specifically about Kaepernick and Griffin. "We really are", Carroll said, via ESPN.
"We're looking at everybody".
Kaepernick logged one of his best games of 2016 against Seattle previous year, completing 17 of 22 passes attempted for 215 yards and a touchdown in the Week 17 finale.
Griffin missed the next 11 games and started the final four, leading Cleveland to its only win of the season over the then-San Diego Chargers on Christmas Eve in Week 16 and preventing the Browns from becoming only the second team in National Football League history to go 0-16.
Pete Carroll said Colin Kaepernick is among the backup quarterback options Seattle is considering.
"It's hard to see because he's played at such a high level, and you see guys, quarterbacks, who have never played at a high level being signed by teams".
Quarterback Russell Wilson #3 of the Seattle Seahawks greets quarterback Colin Kaepernick #7 of the San Francisco 49ers before the game at CenturyLink Field on September 25, 2016 in Seattle, Washington. "So it's hard to understand", said Sherman in March. Disparate reports last week circulated that Kaepernick had either received interest from three teams or that precisely none have sought an interview with him. Teams should be happy to have a leader like that, a guy who's dedicated to the people around him and he's dedicated to making their life better. The only thing standing in his way from landing the backup quarterback job with the Seahawks is underrated free agent Trevone Boykin.
Boykin was arrested earlier this offseason on misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana and public intoxication after a vehicle crash in Dallas.
