Jeter's No 2 retired by Yanks; Monument Park plaque unveiled

Derek Jeter night quickly turned into Astros night at Yankee Stadium, as three Astros went long in Houston's 10-7 victory over the New York Yankees.

Practice makes flawless! Derek Jeter told reporters that he feels "unprepared" for fatherhood at a news conference following his jersey retirement ceremony on Sunday, May 14.

A model of consistency with an even-keeled deportment and the confidence of a natural leader, Jeter became the face of the team and in 2003 was named 11th captain in franchise history.

Former New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter says there is nothing to report concerning a reported bid for him and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush to buy the Miami Marlins.

The No. 2 will never be worn by another member of the New York Yankees.

"I believed that it was going to go away with the treatment that I was getting", Chapman said through a translator. When he began playing professionally, after a standout three-year career at LSU, he asked for No. 2 in Jeter's honor.

With Jeter's No. 2 being retired, there are now no more single-digit numbers available for the Yankees. "Mr. November" received a bronze plaque for his legacy in a ceremony at a sold-out Yankee Stadium.

He rode to the infield in a golf cart as Frank Sinatra's version of "My Way" was played.

"I'll be will eternally grateful to be a part of the Yankee family", he said.

George Steinbrenner's children, Jessica, Hal and Jennifer presented Jeter with the plaques and rings at the beginning of the ceremony.

The former Yankee may have been confident on the field, but as a soon-to-be dad, Derek Jeter's not quite there yet.

"He's going to be shut down for two weeks and then we'll reassess", Cashman said.

Alex Bregman went a month-and-a-half without a home run.

Big Papi wants a big sendoff from the Red Sox someday just like Derek Jeter.

"It doesn't get any more special than having your number retired by this organization", Jeter said.
