Apple did not specify exactly which Kaby Lake processors are coming to new MacBook models during the keynote, but it's highly likely to use Intel's lower-power "Y-series" chips.

The $1,299 price point is attractive to power users, as that is the point where you'll start to pay for premium features like all-aluminum clamshells, and higher-than-full-HD screens, as well as more memory, storage, and power than budget and midrange laptops.

Milanesi, who dubbed the iMac Pro "a beast" and graded the Mac line-up as the strongest ever for this time of the year, agreed that the new systems would turn around the negative narrative that had built up since last fall.
