Katy Perry makes Twitter history with 100 million followers

Katy Perry just broke another Twitter record: The "Bon Appetit" singer is the first person on the site to hit 100 million followers. Justin Bieber is a close second with 96.7 million followers, and Taylor Swift, with whom Perry is rumored to be feuding, has 85.1 million followers. Other hashtags inspired by the singer include #roar, #KatyCats, #Prism, #ChainedToTheRhythm, #Rise, and the most recent, inspired by her Twitter milestone, #LoveKaty, the Los Angeles Times reported. The report claims that up to 15 percent of the Twitter users could be fake accounts.

The guys at Twitter HQ also congratulated the Roar singer on her achievement with a compilation of some of her best tweets from over the years and wrote: 'Today we #witness history. She has over 8,500 tweets, which means over a thousand tweets per year.

Twitter now has 319 million monthly active users.

Her Witness tour in the U.S. and Canada kicks off on September 9 and runs through February 2018. Since Perry made her comeback in the music game with the release of her fourth highly anticipated studio album Witness, a tour announcement was inevitable.
