The First Family pushed back against the outrage regarding Ivanka Trump's role at the G20 with Donald Trump Jr.

A White House official told DailyMail.com that the younger Trump's fill-in role was nothing out of the ordinary.

The world-leader-packed G20 summit has just ended in Hamburg, Germany, where the people who run the world's 20 biggest economies were discussing how to tackle critically important issues, such as global warming, women's entrepreneurial initiatives, Europe's migrant crisis, and a plan for sustainable development.

Representative Ted Lieu, Democrat of California, who serves on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, said on Twitter that based on Ms. Trump's example, he was going to ask the House speaker, Paul D. Ryan, "if my son can sit in for me at the next House Foreign Affairs Committee meeting".

According to Agence France-Presse, a White House official has confirmed that Ivanka Trump "briefly joined the main table when the president had to step out".

Ivanka helped her father to launch a loan programme on women.

"She's got her certain issues that she focuses on, and when those things come up, then that's where she is and that's what she likes to focus on", Nikki Haley, US Ambassador to the United Nations, said in a TV interview.

The creation of the facility was Ivanka Trump's idea as she held meetings on the topic of women's empowerment during the beginning of her father's administration, including one with World Bank President Jim Yong Kim, who shepherded the facility's creation.

Tony Posnanski, another New York-based writer, took a lighter jibe at Ivanka, "I guess in all fairness Ivanka Trump is qualified to sit with world leaders since her clothing line has failed in every country".
