Lea Michele marks 4th anniversary of Cory Monteith's death

Posted July 16, 2017

The Glee star took to Instagram on Thursday evening to pay tribute to Cory, four years on from his tragic death.

"4 years and it still feels like yesterday... love you more C", Lea captioned the snap. A black-and-white Polaroid photo of the couple was attached to the tweet. A little earlier this year, Michele told Women's Health that she now has three tatts honouring the Canadian.

One was a permanent reminder of Monteith, her former Glee co-star and boyfriend. She also has the words, "If you say so", tattooed on her, which were his last words to her.

Cory was found dead on July 13 in 2013, at 31 years old after "intravenous heroin use combined with the ingestion of alcohol", according to a coroner's report at the time. Aside from the "Finn" tattoo, Lea also has a "5" under her arm in honor of the Glee star's football number he wore on the show.

As fans responded to her post with warm wishes and condolences, one wrote: "Even though I didn't know him, he will always have a special place in my heart".

Michele, now 30, and Monteith first met on the set of "Glee" and dated from 2012 up until the time of his passing.

The pair were said to be "happy and in love" in the days leading up to his death.
