Earlier today at San Diego Comic-Con, Legendary and Universal unleashed our first look at Pacific Rim: Uprising in the form of a teaser that acts an in-universe commercial for the Jaeger Uprising, a new generation of Jaeger Pilots that can help defend all of humanity.
While the first Pacific Rim wasn't a massive box office success domestically - pulling in a meager a little over $100 million stateside - the film performed well overseas, scoring an impressive $300 million worldwide.
When Boyega finally hits the screen, all he says is "Join the Jaeger uprising!" before smashing his fist into his opposite hand, piloting the new and improved version of the Gypsy Danger, called Gypsy Avenger, as he does so.
There's also an in-universe companion site that purports to recruit for the Jaegar program, with some more information (and downloadable blueprints) for the new mechs. Is there some competition for the Jaeger corps in the giant-monster punching department? And yes, today's SDCC teaser might not boast any footage from the flick but it's the ideal treat to tide us over until the first full-length trailer does eventually drop.
Boyega has the lead role of Jake Pentecost, said to be the son of Idris Elba's Stacker Petecost from "Pacific Rim".
