Calvert-Lewin only made 11 appearances in the Premier League last summer however he could now get more of a chance after his impressive displays.

Ronald Koeman believes Dominic Calvert-Lewin could thrive in a two-man strike force after coolly firing Everton to a 1-0 victory at Ruzomberok.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin's goal and a Jordan Picked clean sheet have secured Everton's passage into the next round of Europa League qualifying.

"It was a physical game and 90 minutes that the players needed".

Daniel had Pickford scrambling with a 54th minute shot that flew inches wide of the target as Everton struggled to take hold of the game in the opening stages of the second half.

Calvert-Lewin latched on to Davy Klaassen's through ball, before finishing well, to send Everton through to the next round with a 1-0 win over Ružomberok in Slovakia.

Everton have been drawn against Croatian outfit Hajduk Split in their Europa League play-off tie.

"We always try to play offensive football, we don't come here to defend the result, it's not the way I like and it's not the best way".

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, the Dutchman said: "We know we need to make decisions and it is not only about the goalkeeper".

"Maybe Ruzomberok need to attack more but they did a good job and it is the second leg of this round so we will see".
