Thunderstorms possible in afternoon and evening

Posted August 12, 2017

Today's predicted high is several degrees lower than Topeka's average high temperature for August 11, which is 89 degrees. Winds will be south around 5 miles per hour.

Saturday will be cloudy to partly sunny with PM scattered showers and storms.

Skies over Madison should be mostly sunny Monday, sunny Tuesday and Wednesday, and partly sunny Thursday, with highs near 77, 79, 79 and 79, and lows Sunday night through Wednesday night around 58, 58, 60 and 63. Northeast winds 5 to 15 miles per hour. It's more of the same thing we've had all week long, and a chance does not mean that you will definitely get rain. Thursday will have rain chances go down to 20% thanks to the upper level high keeping rain chances low. Even though the rain chances don't look almost as impressive anymore, the same computer models still paint a fair amount of cloud cover overhead. High: Mid 70s - near 80.

Today - A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11 a.m.

Monday will be cloudy to partly sunny, with scattered showers and storms. Sunday appears to be mainly dry with mostly sunny skies. It won't rain all night, but we'll keep the risk of occasional showers and perhaps a rumble going through most of it. Lows end up in the upper 60s and lower 70s.

The chance for thunderstorms remains on Saturday, with more sunshine expected Sunday.

Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy - low around 68.

Scattered showers and storms return to the picture early next week. Mostly cloudy with a high near 84. Calm wind becoming west around 5 miles per hour in the afternoon. Low: 77. High: 98. We add a 2nd model to the mix tomorrow with more models by the middle part of next week.
