Andy Cohen to replace Kathy Griffin on CNN on New Year's Eve

The Wrap is reporting the Bravo honcho will join the other AC for Anderson Cooper's New Year's Eve Live on December 31.

After CNN relieved Griffin from her duties, Cooper said he was "appalled" by the photo.

Andy Cohen has been tapped to co-host CNN's New Year's Eve telecast alongside Anderson Cooper after Griffin was sacked by the news network earlier this year.

After Kathy Griffin was unceremoniously booted from the gig, Anderson Cooper's New Year's Eve companion will be his longtime pal Andy Cohen, CNN announced on Wednesday.

Said Cohen, "I've been friends with Anderson for twenty-five years".

After Griffin posted a photo of herself brandishing a severed head that looked like President Trump, CNN made a decision to cut ties with the comedienne. Cooper said in a statement.

Soon after Cooper's comments, however, Griffin told The Cut that her friendship with Cooper was over, as she was "hurt deeply" by him declaring they were still friends without checking in with her first. It will be the 11th year of CNN's hosting of the New Years Eve show.

With New Year's being so long away, CNN didn't rush to hire a replacement. Both Cohen and Cooper have also served as frequent guest co-hosts on fellow friend and media personality Kelly Ripa's morning show, particularly before Ryan Seacrest was named her permanent co-host.
