According to the company, it is holding a special sale of the phone on October 17, just before Diwali, at Flipkart and Mi.com, however the normal sales of the phone will begin in the first week of November.

Mi Mix 2 is powered by Qualcomm's fastest Snapdragon 835 Octa-core processor. The phone is powered by a hefty 3400mAh battery pack.

Coming to optics, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 is packing a 12MP primary camera with 4-axis OIS, f/2.0 aperture and a 18K gold plated rim around it. The front camera on Mi MIX 2 is a 5MP snapper.

The Mi MIX 2 will come with an 6 inch edge-to-edge screen and an 18:9 aspect ratio display. However, that is not to say the phone does not have its fair share of issues. It comes with an USB Type C port and loses the 3.5mm headphone jack. It is the second installment in the MIX-series, and the overall design of this phone reminds us of its elder brother Mi MIX which was not launched in India.

The company made the bottom chin narrower than the one in the original Mi Mix. We'll have to wait and see if Xiaomi launches multiple variants of the Mi Mix 2 in India. "It competes with the flagship devices of many players in terms of specifications", Xiaomi Vice President and India Managing Director Manu Jain told PTI. The company has also added a "super black lens coating" to the front camera lens to ensure that it is discreet. The front is almost bezel-less at the top and sides. While taking a selfie, the user has to look down at the camera or simply flip the phone around. Xiaomi has placed the fingerprint scanner at the back of the phone under the camera. The company has launched the Mi MIX 2 in its 6GB RAM, 128GB storage variant in the country, with no mention of whether the other variants will be brought here as well. RAM is 6GB, on board storage is 128GB with a dual-SIM slot and support for a microSD for expandable storage.

The phone's lack of any sort of waterproofing also serves as a big reason to not go for the phone.

For audio output, this phone incorporates a hidden 50mW speaker that only takes up a thin sliver of space between the top edge of the phone and the screen instead of the piezoelectric speaker solution in Mi MIX. After an initial period of losing some ground, because Xiaomi was offering similar or better specifications for much lower prices, Samsung fought back and has consolidated.
