Clemson Favored Over Miami In ACC Championship Game

Posted November 29, 2017

Sixteen Miami Hurricanes football players were named among the Atlantic Coast Conference's best when the All-ACC teams were announced Monday.

The ACC Championship game will be broadcast on ABC, Saturday at 8 p.m.

The Hurricanes were ranked as high as No. 2 in the College Football Playoff rankings this season - their highest placement in the poll since its introduction in 2014.

Richt led Miami to their first ACC Coastal Division title this season. He never won in 15 years in the SEC.

"All he's ever done is win", Swinney said of Richt. Richt is in the midst of his second year with the program following a 15-year stint with the Georgia Bulldogs.

Two seasons ago, it was offensive coordinator Chad Morris, now the head coach at SMU. The Hurricanes are likely headed to their first elite Bowl game since the 2004 Orange Bowl. He received 41 of the possible 59 votes.

The Tigers' past two ACC championship game wins set the stage for runs to the College Football Playoff national championship game, including last season's 35-31 victory over Alabama. Miami will not play Boston College or Wake Forest this season.

Senior tight end Christopher Herndon IV, sophomore running back Travis Homer, junior defensive lineman RJ McIntosh, sophomore linebacker Shaq Quarterman, junior cornerback Michael Jackson and junior safety Jaquan Johnson were all named to the All-ACC Second Team.

Miami's seven ACC wins were the most the Hurricanes have had during their tenure in the ACC.

Miami gets a chance for their first ACC Championship on Saturday night against Clemson.
