MRC, which produces "House of Cards", released a statement as well, saying "While we continue the ongoing investigation into the serious allegations concerning Kevin Spacey's behavior on the set of 'House of Cards, ' he has been suspended, effective immediately".

Spacey, who plays the show's male lead, Frank Underwood - a role that won him a Golden Globe in 2015 - has been at the center of a sexual abuse controversy that erupted in recent weeks.

In an interview with BuzzFeed, actor Anthony Rapp said he attended a party at Spacey's NY apartment in 1986, when he was 14.

While his show House of Cards was shuttered and he's reportedly seeking treatment in the wake of accusations he came on to then 14-year-old actor Anthony Rapp years ago, comes a report Kevin Spacey is being investigated for sex assault in England.

Spacey posted on Twitter that he didn't remember the Rapp encounter. When they were just minutes away from the set - and while the auto was still moving - the production assistant alleged that Spacey put his hands down the production assistant's trousers. "I was in a state of shock", the anonymous staffer said. Spacey never denied those allegations, instead pointing the finger at his alcohol use at the time and using the opportunity to come out as gay, a decision that earned him scorn from critics wondering if he was trying to deflect outrage away from himself in the process.

Mexican actor Roberto Cavazos wrote on his Facebook page that he encountered Spacey at the bar of London's Old Vic Theatre, where Spacey was artistic director from 2004-15, and the actor tried to fondle him against his will. Spacey has also been dropped by his publicist and talent agency, CAA as allegations continue emerge.

Netflix has also decided not to proceed with the release of the film Gore, which stars and is produced by Spacey, the statement said.

In an statement issued to The Hollywood Reporter on Friday, Netflix announced they are officially cutting ties with Spacey and that the star and executive producer of House Of Cards will no longer be involved in the series. In another blow to Spacey's wallet, a Dutch business forum canceled his headline appearance at their conference November 29 in Rotterdam.
