Ivanka is also scheduled to speak at the first session the next day.
This is the eighth overall edition of the GES, a gathering of entrepreneurs, investors, and supporters from around the world.
Being held in South Asia for the first time, the GES is co-hosted by the governments of the United States and India. The summit will focus on the theme of 'Women First, Prosperity for All, ' and will be the first GES in which over 52.5 percent of the participants are women. Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia and Israel are among 10 countries being represented by all-female delegations.
The inaugural plenary session, from 4.30 pm on Tuesday, will be themed "Be the Change: Women's Entrepreneurial Leadership", and the session will have remarks from Prime Minister Modi, Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao and Ivanka Trump. He said that the Summit would focus on four main sectors - energy and infrastructure, digital economy and financial technology, health and life sciences, and media and entertainment. Eminent panelists such as Union defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Chanda Kochhar, MD and CEO ICICI Bank, Karen Quintos, CCO, Dell and Cherie Blair, of Cherie Blair Foundation for Women will also take part in these discussions along with Ivanka.
Juster also said that India was selected by the US government to host the GES previous year by former US President Barack Obama's administration and that countries are chosen with regard to growing opportunities for women and creation of jobs.
Over 100 innovative start-ups, products, services and processes will be exhibited through a multi-touch interactive wall, sensor-enabled touch screens, rotoscope mural technology and physical displays. It may be mentioned that Modi had invited Ivanka to visit India, during his visit to the US.
In view of the event's prominence, the Telangana government allotted funds for the city's beautification and for the arrangements of the summit, a senior official said. Ms. Trump would also be exploring the historic city of Hyderabad after work.
The Hitec City area and Hyderabad International Convention Centre, where the event is being organised, have been turned into a fortress with almost 10,000 security personnel, including commandos, special police, and civil police guarding the roads, hotels and the venue.
