Trader Joe's recalls salads over plastic, glass fears

Posted November 21, 2017

Green Cuisine has issued a recall for chicken and turkey products found in salads sold at Trader Joe's locations, including stores in Utah.

The ready-to-eat chicken and turkey salads were made between November 4 - 15.

The products affected are "Trader Joe's White Meat Chicken Salad", "Trader Joe's Curried White Chicken Deli Salad", and "Trader Joe's Turkey Cranberry Apple Salad".

Trader Joe's may very well be one of the best places in America to get healthy, organic food and produce at a reasonable price, but it might be a good idea to hold off on that pre-packaged salad you bought last week. Again, if you did buy any of those salads, but they have a different inspection code, Trader Joe's says they should be fine.

The company said salads with use by dates of 11/10 through 11/21 and the USDA "INSPECTED" code "P-40299" may contain pieces of glass or hard plastic.

The USDA said the recall involves ready-to-eat chicken and turkey salads produced between November 4 and Wednesday by Green Cuisine.

In a written statement, Trader Joe's said all affected salads have been removed from store shelves and destroyed.
