Along with free, day-one content, the Nintendo Direct presentation provided information on the expansion pass and cross-promotion with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild were shown off. To help familiarize fans with main character Rex before the game launches, a new Side Quest will be available via a free update in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild game for both Nintendo Switch and Wii U systems, in which players will be able to obtain a Rex costume starting on November 9.
The rest of the video takes a deep dive into the RPG's class, skill, and combat mechanics, as well as gathering resources and fast-travel using landmarks. The protagonist is what the game calls a "Driver" named Rex. Oh, and in true New-Nintendo fashion, it's also getting an "expansion pass". Note that DLC packs can not be purchased individually. It will be available on December 1, 2017 for Xenoblade Chronicles 2. If it works the same as the new armor introduced in Breath of the Wild DLC Pack 1, it will give Link a bonus ability or status effect for wearing all the pieces, but the Great Fairies won't be able to increase its defense level.
Best of all, this new content will be available as a free update for Breath of the Wild too! The original Xenoblade Chronicles launched for the Wii and received critical acclaim, with praise being showered on just about every aspect of the game.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 will also have a special edition Switch Pro controller for $74.99, and a $99 special edition that includes a copy of the game, a 220-page art book, a soundtrack, and a metal case to hold the cartridge. It's rated T for Teen.
