Ole Miss football will get infractions ruling on Friday, per report

Bjork confirmed that rising seniors with the Rebels' football program can transfer to another university due to next season's bowl ban, but he said he was not aware of any players who plan to leave. The show cause means any school wanting to hire Freeze and those coaches would have to appear before the infractions committee.

Because of the length of the penalties, all Ole Miss players are allowed to transfer to another school without having to sit out the one-year usually mandated under NCAA rules.

Hours after the NCAA handed down to Ole Miss the final penalties in an investigation in the football program, the fired coach in the middle of it all, Hugh Freeze released a statement. As part of self-imposed sanctions, the university already cut 11 scholarships over a four-year period from 2015 to 2018.

The crux of the amended notice of allegations, which came after former offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil's draft night to forget that included an admission that he took money from Ole Miss officials and a video posted on his own social media accounts of him smoking a substance through a gas mask.

The NCAA accepted all sanctions Ole Miss imposed on itself and added an additional bowl game ban in 2018.

The complicated case consisted of 21 alleged violations, including 15 that were Level I, which the NCAA considers the most serious.

The investigation spanned violations committed under both Freeze and former Ole Miss head coach Houston Nutt, and spawned a dispute between Nutt and Ole Miss that inadvertently resulted in Freeze's downfall. This restriction ends on November 30 2018, and would not affect my ability as a head coach to recruit prospective student-athletes; to participate in preseason coaching activities, including spring or fall practice; or to coach any non-conference games. The school also announced a forfeiture of its share of SEC postseason revenues for this season.

The stiffest penalty was for former staff member David Saunders, who received an eight-year show cause for helping arrange fraudulent ACT scores.

Luke was named the interim coach in July after Freeze surprisingly resigned following a school investigation into his phone records that found what the school called personal misconduct. Lewis even testified in front of the NCAA committee on infractions.
