Airways has launched a milestone non-stop daily flight from Nairobi to NY.
The service will be operated by a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, which will traverse almost 7,400 miles of land and sea.
"With over 40 American multinationals located in Nairobi and many more across Africa, the launch of daily flights is expected to further spur trade between America and Africa", the statement announcing the launch of the ticket sales reads. The flight will depart every day from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport hub in Nairobi at 23:25 arriving at JFK airport in NY at 06:25 the following day.
"The Nairobi-New York direct flight shows the determination of Kenya Airways remains to be the Pride of Africa", said Joseph. It will land in NY the next day at 6.30 AM. Its duration will be 15 hours eastbound and 14 hours westbound.
Tour operators say that the flight marks a milestone for the entire region and is expected to considerably boost travel from the U.S.
Kenya Airways will be using its vast African connecting routes to pull passengers to fly direct to the US.
The KQ planes will carry 234 passengers, with 30 at the premium world class and 204 in the economy section.
