The Brazilian was in sparkling form for Paris Saint-Germain as they strengthened their grip on the top of the table.

Cavani is now tied with Zlatan Ibrahimovic with 156 goals for PSG.

"Neymar hit the penalty kick and he [Cavani] will have other chances to score more goals".

Neymar doubled his tally 12 minutes into the second half, beating Reynet from close range.

Neymar scored four goals and provided two assists while Edinson Cavani equaled Zlatan Ibrahimovic's club record of 156 goals.

"Cavani, he is our goalscorer, he improved a lot, his individual statistics help the team and the team help him get his goals", Emery said.

In fairness to Cavani, he didn't make too much of a fuss of letting Neymar take it but it was the home fans who voiced their feelings, shouting "Cavani, Cavani" as Neymar stepped up.

Meunier believes it was unfair to react in such a way, especially given Neymar's overall performance in the commanding win.

Four minutes later, Mbappe was set up by Neymar and the French global scored PSG's seventh goal with a left-foot shot and Neymar rubbed salt in the visitors' wounds when he converted an 83rd-minute penalty.

It is not the first time the relationship between Cavani and Neymar has caused controversy with reports earlier in the season claiming the attacking duo had had a serious falling out.

The goal involved patient build-up play from the PSG defence, pin-point accuracy in midfield, and self-confident dribbling from Neymar as the attacker coasted past three Dijon defenders before powering the ball home.

PSG is next in action on Sunday when it travels to Olympique Lyon for a crucial Ligue 1 game.
