Agent reveals club secret over failed Daley Blind deal

Danny, Blind's father and a former Ajax skipper, admits that time is running out for Roma to sign the defender and Manchester United are only interested in selling him and that also in the summer.

"I can confirm that Roma want him but Manchester United don't want to let him go on loan, only on a permanent basis in the summer".

Blind is now on the sidelines with ankle ligament damage but has fallen down the pecking order for the left-back slot, with Jose Mourinho instead preferring converted winger Ashley Young and Luke Shaw for the role.

"It's really hard [to negotiate a move] because Manchester United want to keep him to play in the Champions League, the Premier League and the FA Cup". They would not want to sell it now, but only in the summer, the price is good, but the operation is hard.

He added: "The choice of Italy would be interesting for him, but Manchester United are a great club and they don't need to sell players as they don't need money".

"The group is very united and they want him to stay".

Mourinho noted in his Monday press conference that there weren't any fresh injuries in his squad ahead of the clash with Tottenham Hotspur but, with this new information in mind, he must have been referring to the group of players he was intending to select from - of which Blind is not one.

Eyed up as a potential replacement for Emerson, last season Daley Blind impressed at United for his reliability as a utility player. The utility man made his fair share of appearances last season under Jose Mourinho, but has found himself on the outside looking in more often than not this season.
