Bollywood veteran Sridevi passes away in Dubai

Sridevi was one of India's most prolific and sought-after actresses having acted in several south Indian films before debuting in Bollywood with Julie. Sridevi was reportedly with husband Boney Kapoor and daughter Khushi in Dubai when she passed away.

55-year-old Sridevi will be survived by her daughters Janvi and Kushi Kapoor along with husband Boney Kapoor in case if this news is true. Elder daughter Janhvi is in Mumbai for a film shooting.

Besides Boney and Khushi, she is survived by older daughter Janhvi Kapoor, who is now working towards making her entry into the Hindi cinema.

She went on to establish herself in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada films before returning to Hindi films in 1979 with the film Solva Sawan.

At the age of 4, Sridevi started her film career as a child artist in M.A. Thirumughams devotional Thunaivan.

It is a Black Day in Bollywood with her sudden death.

In Hindi films, her infamous stint in the 1983 film Himmatwala got her into the spotlight.

Some of the notable films of Sridevi are Chandni, Lamhe, Mr India, Nagina, English Vinglish. The actress was honoured with a Padma Shri in 2013 by the Government of India.

After word of Sridevi's death, Indian actress Priyanka Chopra tweeted, "I have no words". Condolences to everyone who loved #Sridevi.
