Florida commit's mother walks out after he chooses Gators

The four-star wide receiver sat next to his mother on National Signing Day and bypassed Tennessee and Alabama hats.

What was supposed to be a big day for Copeland turned out to be rather awkward when he chose the Florida Gators.

Watch the freaky scene below. Their recruiting analysts are on the ground right now for National Signing Day. And from the way she reacted, that definitely seems to be the case.

As soon as he made the reveal, she got up and stormed off.

Copeland said he couldn't "go with his mom" and had to "go with his heart".

Following the interview, Jacob's mother returned to sign the letter of intent.

To the credit of young Jacob Copeland, he was asked about the moment while talking with ESPN and handled it maturely and with poise. Later in the afternoon, Copeland tweeted what his mother did was "hilarious".

Florida, meanwhile, is getting a good one in Copeland.

You'll notice she did come back and give her son a hug after he spoke, even though she still was wearing the apparel of the two schools he turned down.

What Copeland's mother did was selfish and she should take a long, hard look in the mirror and realize that she just hurt her son on live television.
