Riyad Mahrez, 26, is reportedly set to be fined £200,000 by Leicester City, following the winger's absence from training after a deadline day move to Manchester City fell through, according to the Daily Mail.
Mahrez has not trained since City's withdrew their interest on Wednesday's due to Leicester's demands.
Earlier on Saturday, leaders Manchester City were held to a 1-1 draw by Burnley, a result that denied them the chance of becoming only the third team in the Premier League era to hold an 18-point lead at the summit. It is also the best decision for Riyad.
With all the recent talk dominated by the Riyad Mahrez transfer saga, it was time to return to on-the-pitch matters for the home side and they drew first blood with Jamie Vardy putting the Foxes ahead in the 16th minute. The Foxes have not won a Premier League game in which the Algerian has not featured since a 2-1 success against Norwich City back in October 2015.
However, it seems that Mahrez might force the club to sell him next summer, and the Reds could try to utilize this awkward situation to lower Leicester's "stratospheric" claims.
"I hope for Riyad that he can clear his head and come back with us because he is a valuable player for us, crucial in our play".
"He's a Leicester player". At the moment, the likes of City, United and Chelsea are in a better position to offer UEFA Champions League football and more consistent trophy challenges.
Mahrez's stellar displays reminded the footballing world of the importance of widemen with his breaks on the counter, dribbling and finishing making him a class apart.
"Me, I advise him to resume training and work hard, even if the transfer has not been resolved", he said.
"He's seen Drinkwater go, he's seen Kante go, I wonder if he was told in the background "just stay with us a little while longer and give us a bit more" but he hasn't got his move".
